As we all (should) know, this Saturday will be FMSA's first ever Brown Bag session.
The two speakers that'll be with us for this saturday are Dr Rufaihah Abdul Jalil & Sis Shidrati Ali. Here's a little introduction about 'em :)

She is currently serving as the Community Service Director of Rotary Club of Serangoon Gardens and was previously active in the Muslim Students Association in Boston, FMSA, and NUS Muslim Society. She had previously organized various community services such as painting of one-room flats for the elderly, beach clean-ups, blood donation drives, donation drives for Afghan refugees, Pakistan earthquake etc.

She is an avid swimmer and is currently taking her open water diving course. Besides her first love of reading, she also dabbles in writing stories, poems and religious articles. She also love to travel and photograph natural and cultural scenery.

Dr Rufaihah Abdul Jalil is a postdoctoral research fellow in Department of Surgery and Bioengineering in National University of Singapore. She recently graduated with Doctor of Philosophy (Biomedical Science) from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in July, 2007. First Ever Brown Bag Session @ FMSA!

Salam dearest brothers and sisters!

wahahooo. haven't been updating this blog for quite some time eh? not to worry, we'll do our best to make sure this blog is as fresh as everrrr!

Okay. FMSA will be organizing it's first ever Brown Bag Session! Usually brown bag session requires the participants/audience to bring their own lunch. But we love to provide food for our dear brothers and sisters who attend any FMSA events don't we? HEE HEE. So insya-allah we'll be providing 'lunch'. Technically it'll be tea time since the session will be at 2.30pm. :) So the food provided will be what you'll eat during tea time okay :)

All the details are on the poster. Credits to Bro Saiful who created this poster! Amat simple tapi cantik! Otaknya amat bagus! lol.

Hadith 18...as shared...

Assalammualaikum Dunia...
Peace World...

Here is the hadith I shared during the Panel Discussion at the BRMY camp.

Abu Dhar Jundub bin Junadah and Abu Abdul Rahman Mu’adh bin Jabal, radiyallahu anhuma, reported that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, said:
“Fear Allah wherever you may be; follow up an evil deed with a good one which will wipe (the former) out, and behave good-naturedly towards people.”
[Al-Tirmidhi relates it, saying: It is a good (hasan) Tradition. In some copies he says: It is a good and genuine (hasan and sahih) Hadith.]

My point to share is simple.
There is much we have done, doing or will do which fall under the category of an 'evil' deed.
However, that should not stop us from following up with a good deed.

So, keep doing good, even when you are in the pits of 'evil'.

Allah is Most Merciful, Most Forgiving.
Never despair His Mercy.
He loves us...always.

regards,
~dew~

Project Zip! Video (shown during BRMY Camp @NACLI)

In aid of the victims of the Tsunami which struck the Indian Ocean on December 2004, FMSA sought collaboration with Saff-PERDAUS and PERGAS to undertake Project Zip!. The project made an appeal to Singaporeans to donate Ziploc bags containing several items of basic necessities and drop them at collection centres. The Ziploc bags were then directed to Aceh Indonesia.

The project was mainly manned by the youth and student community (Muslims and non-Muslims). Known as 'Youth for Humanity', these youths managed to pack some 11 000 ziplog bags containing items such as mineral water, cereals, biscuits, towels and some medication. Boxes of clothings and other aid items were also collected.

say yes to peace.

Hamza Yusuf spoke to me:
“If you are not upset about the way the world is going, you are asleep or spiritually dead. People need to get on board and start showing solidarity.”
